OUTREACH
Our lab participates in outreach to students and the broader public whenever possible. Below are some opportunities for students and community members.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE FOR TEACHERS - SUMMER 2018
The Sewall lab will host 4 local high school teachers in summer of 2018 to collaborate on research projects and develop science curricula to take back to their classrooms. A moderate stipend will support the collaboration and resources are available for classroom activities. Contact PI Sewall (ksewall(at)vt.edu) for more information!

SCHOOL VISITS AND COMMUNITY TALKS
We occasionally visit schools to talk with students from the preschool to community college level about how science works and what we have learned as a lab. We are also enthusiastic about sharing our work with local groups such as Naturalists and Birders. Please contact us to arrange a visit or talk!

COMMUNITY RESEARCH VOLUNTEERS
Local birders can help us monitor song sparrow populations around Blacksburg and Radford, VA. If you are interested in helping with point counts, behavioral studies, or bird surveys and can commit at least one day a week throughout the spring breeding season email PI Sewall (ksewall(at)vt.edu). Our field crew could always use more help!
